Alleged Rumors of TikTok Being Banned in US Surfaces

Social media is in state of confusion as an alleged rumor stating that TikTok has been banned in the United State has surfaced

The rumors sparked as hashtags of #RipTikTok and #TikTokDown# was trending after the users saw strange features in the app.

The app being banned in the US is not entirely baseless as there have been serious conflicts between the app and the country.

Although many users in the US are very fond of the app, the country is however skeptical about the app because of privacy issues.

Early this year, branches of the US Military banned apps that have Chinese origins from government-issued smartphones.

Pentagon has also warned of the potential risk associated with using the TikTok app. The US secretary also revealed that the country is planning on taking serious actions against the app.

“With respect to Chinese apps on people’s cellphones, I can assure you the United States will get this one right, too, Laura. I don’t want to get out in front of the President (Donald Trump), but it’s something we’re looking at,” The US Secretary State, Mike Pompeo.

It has however been confirmed that TikTok has not been banned in the US or any other country because the app is still available for download.

Responding to rumor, TikTok has this to say:

“Hi, TikTok community! We’re aware that some users are experiencing app issues – working to quickly fix things, and we’ll share updates here!”
