The Razer Phone 2 came with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box even though it was launched a couple of months after Android 9 Pie had been released. Many would have expected the device to come with the latest iteration of Google’s Android operating system but it did not. Razer later confirmed that this device would get Pie towards the end of February and it has followed through on that promise.
The company has now started rolling out the Android 9 Pie update for the Razer Phone 2. This software update brings all of the features that are part and parcel of the latest iteration of Android. Once the device is updated to Pie, Razer says that its second-generation smartphone will “operate more intuitively, more efficiently, utilize its battery and significantly enhance user experience for gaming and entertainment.”
Razer doesn’t really make any major customizations to the version of Android on its smartphones and that’s likely the case with the Android 9 Pie update as well. However, it is yet unclear when the original Razer Phone is going to get a taste of Pie.
