Over the years, Apple has been known to loose market share in the Chinese mobile market to companies who have been successful to come with competitive specs, features and prices. A good example would be Huawei who managed to beat Apple to become the world’s second largest smartphone company. Even some analysts have claimed that Huawei’s Mate 20 could be giving Apple a run for their money.
However, everyone loves a good sale and for Alibaba’s single-day sale, Apple’s iPhone emerged top of the list by being the top-selling mobile phone brand for the day. This has allowed Apple to beat out the likes of Huawei and Xiaomi, both of whom come in second and third place respectively.
It is unclear as to how much Apple’s iPhones managed to bring in on that day, but given that Alibaba managed to earn $1 billion in under two minutes and a grand total of $30.8 billion in 24 hours, it’s safe to say that it was a pretty lucrative day for the platform.
It is also unclear as to which iPhones were sold and how many of each model. However, this does not suggest that the newly-launched iPhone Xs, Xs Max or the XR is doing well because, customers could be flocking to the older models, but either way it does seem like a good position to be in at the end of the day.
