After detailing its new software iterations a couple of weeks ago, Apple has finally rolled out the first public beta of iOS 13 and iPadOS 13. These are public betas, not developer betas, so you don’t require a developer account to download them. Everyone with a compatible iPhone or iPad can now try out all of the new software features that Apple has been working on.

Developers have already had access to the beta for some time now. Apple actually released the second beta build for them last week. It’s quite likely that the first public beta build is essentially the same as the second developer build.

Do keep in mind, though, that this is still beta software. You may run into issues at times and bugs will be common. Some apps may not work at all. Apple will continue to release betas every few weeks as it improves the software before its final release for the public.

Apple hasn’t provided a confirmed release date for iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 but if history is any indication, we will get these software updates possibly around September. This public beta program will enable it to gather data from testers and make improvements to the software before it’s rolled out to all users.
