Today, Firefox confirmed they are testing a password manager for iPhones called the “Lockbox”. According to Firefox, the new app will let users access their Firefox saved passwords from their iPhones. This means that any password or ID that’s stored in your browser, such as those for logging in to Twitter or Instagram will automatically be synced to Lockbox, which allows you to then log in to corresponding iOS apps directly.
Users will be able to use Touch ID and Face ID to unlock the app and Mozilla is using 256-bit encryption to sync the passwords. While this is only in its test phase, this move has clearly shown that the company is working to expand its footprint beyond the traditional desktop browser space we all know Firefox to be.
