Five mobile phones that are more expensive than the iPhone X

0

It came as a shock to almost everyone when Apple announced that the iPhone X would clock in at a thousand dollar – N360, 000. I still can’t seem to get over the shock.

The thing is, in context, owning such a device isn’t even that bad but six figures in naira can be a pretty heavy sum for a mobile phone, especially considering the country’s economic downturn. People buy cell phones way more expensive than that, and they don’t even have edge-to-edge screens or FaceID. Anyway, here’s a list of five devices more expensive than the iPhone X.

So grab a cup of coffee and enjoy as we dive deep into the world of high-end cell phones for the rich and crazy.

Solarin

Cost: $14,000 (N5, 040, 000)

Security is a big deal nowadays, so if you’re worried that prying eyes or hackers will get into your cloud storage but you have a lot of money to throw around, then the self-acclaimed “world’s most secure mobile phone” might just be the right option for you. Made by Sirin Labs, the Solarin comes with approvals from Hollywood stars like Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy. Running a custom android OS, the magic with this device is a hardware feature – a switch at the back of the device that sets it into a mode where it can only make outgoing voice calls and securely encrypted messaging.

Savelli Champagne Diamond

Cost: $57,000 (N20, 520, 000)

This expensive smartphone gets its name and cost from the combination of high-end materials along with the signature of a designer who has a high estimation of himself. The Savelli Champagne Diamond was made in 2013 by a Swiss designer, Alessandro Savelli. The idea behind this device was to create a cell phone that would work as a luxurious accessory. Formed from 18 carat rose gold along with 395 white and cognac diamonds; this device is quite the conversation starter. Its android OS runs a custom Savelli-commissioned app, “My Jardin Secret”.

Vertu Signature Touch

Cost: $10,800 (N3, 888, 000)

“Handmade” is a big selling point for many of these high-end phones. The Vertu Signature is made by English craftsmen and it design speak for itself. Running under the hood is Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core processor powered by an android OS along with a 21-megapixel camera that lets you perform ultra-high definition video capture. Its high-end front-facing speakers provide crystalline audio playback of custom ringtones composed for Vertu and performed by the London Symphony Orchestra.

Gresso Meridian Black

Cost: $9,500 (N3, 420, 000)

While most phone brands are moving towards bigger touch screens, the luxurious vendors at Gresso are staying true to buttons – made out of gold. The Meridian Black is made from a single piece of titanium, with a gold keypad where each button is hand-polished by a single craftsman. Produced in a limited edition of 999, it supports two SIM cards letting you switch identities easily if that’s the kind of thing you like to do. Though not technically impressive according to reviews, it dons a 32GB internal memory and a 3-megapixel camera, but it surely does look cool.

Lamborghini Alpha One

Cost: $2,450 (N882, 000)

Well, one can say this about this device; it surely costs less than a car with the same name. It comes in luxurious Italian black leather and boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage running on android Nougat. Flaunting high-quality front and rear cameras with Dolby Atmos speakers, this device is a beauty made from heaven.
