Google phone app may soon let you record calls and also transcribe them with its new feature which is still on the way
This was disclosed by multiple news sources which claim that it will display a consent disclaimer to the caller. “When using the call recording feature, you are responsible for complying with applicable laws related to the recording of calls. Please be aware that many jurisdictions require the consent of both parties for such recording,” the prompt states. After which a voice announces to both parties that call recording has started and ended.
According to XDA Developers, the phone app will show a record button during any phone call once the feature is executed. Once you tap the record button, the recording starts and that triggers the disclaimer to verbally inform both parties.
Transcription would be a benefit to many users who need to record interviews, meetings and more. Since Google has a recorder, it clearly would not be a problem implementing the phone app. There is however no details as to how the feature would work.
The features are still undergoing some tests and have not been executed, so they may or may not appear in future versions of the Phone app. They may also appear to Pixel devices.
