Caller ID is supposed to allow you identify whoever is calling you from the other end
However, sometimes there is a need to hide identity for specific privacy reasons including security, and confidentiality. Caller ID displays the caller’s phone number (for all unblocked numbers) on your phone. It may also show the name of the person if it’s already been stored in your phone’s memory. However it is very possible to hide this ID from reflecting during call on another phone.
Caller ID Blocking blocks your number from being displayed through Caller ID either permanently or temporarily. It’s a free service. Caller ID is included with all most phone settings but sometimes its not as restrictable as using the following tips.
You have the option to block Caller ID either temporarily or permanently.
To block your number from being displayed temporarily for a specific call:
- Enter *67.
- Enter the number you wish to call (including area code).
- Tap Call. The words “Private,” “Anonymous,” or some other indicator will appear on the recipient’s phone instead of your mobile number.
This way you must have successfully blocked Caller ID for a specific call.
To block your number from been displayed permanently:
go to settings>>you will find an option for ‘call’, click on it >> then check for and click the option ‘more settings’>> you will find an option like ‘show my caller ID’ >> click on it and select the ‘Hide number‘ option
Note: It is not applicable for emergency toll free numbers like 800 numbers and 911 as Caller ID Blocking will be bridged.
