Instagram could create a separate tab for older posts

Back in July, Instagram launched a feature called “You’re All Caught Up” which is basically a digital wellness initiative where the idea is that once you’ve gone through all the new posts by the people you follow, you can put your phone away and not be tempted to keep scrolling. However, despite rolling out such a feature, Instagram seems intent on putting out new features that could contradict it.

According to a new report, it appears that Instagram is testing out a new UI for its app where users have the option of viewing their feed based on Instagram’s recommendations and a separate tab where users can browse older posts. However, just as we said, this seems to contradict the whole point of the digital wellness initiative because it actively encourages users to check not only one feed.

That being said, this is only a test which means that there’s no guarantee that Instagram has plans to make it an actual feature. Instagram has been testing out a variety of things, more recently we’ve heard how the company is testing Story-like navigation for its feed, where instead of scrolling users can just tap left or right to go to the previous or next post. However, as we said, none of these features has been implemented yet but we are keeping our eyes peeled so you can always check back for more updates.

I support instagram having a separate tab for viewed posts so one can have a choice to or not to revisit previously viewed posts
