The foldable phone are now becoming a thing in the tech space and more brands are boarding the train
Just a few weeks ago, Royole became the first to launch a foldable smartphone and it was later followed by Samsung, who unveiled the Galaxy X, its own version of foldable phone with a similar feature like that of Royole. Now, the Chinese handset maker Oppo is also announcing its intension to launch its own version of Foldable smartphone, come next year February. Hence, becoming the latest to join the trend. The news was confirmed by a product manager for the company during an interview section with one of our many reliable source.
However, there has not been any much details revealed about the yet to be released smartphone, so it’s very possible this is just a prototype device and not ready for sale. But we do know Oppo is interested in this area. The company has patented a number of foldable phone design over recent years, including a device that folds outwards twice to triple the size of its display.
Oppo will join the many brands who believes that the foldable feature is the nest big trend in the mobile tech space, considering the likes of Samsung who has already shown off its first foldable with an Infinity Flex (thought to go on sale in March 2019 for a whopping price); Huawei is reportedly planning its own foldable phone launch before then; and both Lenovo and Xiaomi have teased their own prototypes. Importantly, Google has given its blessing to this coming wave of foldable devices with official support in Android for their changing displays.
With so much brands coming on board, the foldable trend seems like its coming to stay for a long time. So it is very believable that more mobile brands will join the trend any moment soon.
