Two New Camera Modes to be Added to Apple’s iPhone 12

Apple is bringing two cameras modes to some models of iPhone 12 as disclosed to YouTube channel EverythingApplePro

The video modes are said to feature the ability to shoot 4K video at 120fpsand 240fps (Frame Per Second). The new modes are said to be coming to the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max. According to the news report, the new camera modes for the upcoming phones are still been tested.

The camera improvements are expected to be in the iPhone 12 line up. Some of the rumors suggest that the new iPhone models coming in 2020 will feature a 3D camera. This sounds like the LiDAR Scanner feature that Apple added in the 2020 iPad Pro models.

A LiDAR Scanner is used for measuring the distance to the surroundings using laser light. It could be useful to build AR models and enable 3D sensing on the new iPhone models.

The report also revealed that the 4K shooting modes probably have something to do with Apple’s A14 chip. However, the current iPhones are limited to 4K at 60fps and 1080p at 240fps.

According to the analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone manufacturer is planning to release four iPhone 12 models with OLED displays in the fall, including one 5.4-inch model, two 6.1-inch model, and 6.7-inch model. The expected devices will support 5G and may have a new design that includes more of a flat-edged metal frame like the iPad Pro or iPhone 4.
