The Cupertino California based technology company has about 270 stores in the United states alone, which is also part of its 458 stores outside China, Taiwan, Hong Kong which were all shut down in the month of March with the motive of helping the curve the spread of the coronavirus.
However, the other stores would be permitted to be open in the middle of April for sales to go on, but the U.S based stores would have to remain close till the early days of the month of May.
Apple Senior Vice President of Retail and People Deirdre O’Brien mentioned that provisions for flexible work arrangements would be made for the staffs where they work in their houses, while the stores remained closed. She also said ; “continuing to monitor local conditions for every Apple facility on a daily basis” and “reopening decisions on the basis of thorough, thoughtful reviews and the latest guidance from local governments and public health experts.”
She further made it known that the company is aware that a number of its staffs are also parents and the struggle of managing office work along with parental duties, she said the company is aware of this and therefore, “working on options to make sure parents have the support and the flexibility to adjust their schedules as needed,”. She also encouraged the staffs to come forward to the management with any challenge or inconvenience they may be going through, and assistance is assured.
O’Brien also said that the company’s “executive team is meeting daily and closely coordinating with teams across the company.”
