As we all know, when it comes to making instruments, there is an art form attached to the process which is why certain musical instruments like violins and pianos cost a lot of money especially if they are made by a specific luthier. Well, while it appears that YouTuber Burls Art might not be a luthier by trade, his work does speak on his behalf.
The YouTuber recently decided to make his own electric guitar from scratch using 1,200 coloured pencils. There is definitely no doubt that we’ve seen some pretty funky and unique guitar designs in the past, but this is just as good, if not better because the end result is a very cool-looking guitar that is naturally coloured thanks to the cross sections of the coloured pencils being exposed.
For those who are interested in replicating the act, Burls Art has uploaded the entire process on his YouTube page where it runs for a little over 9 minutes. He talks us through the entire process and how he went about creating it, so if you are interested in attempting it yourself, hopefully, this will give you some hints.
However, we can’t determine the quality of the guitar itself since we can’t touch, hold or play it ourselves but from what we can hear, it sounds pretty good – although more discerning and experienced musicians might have a different opinion.
